When your wedding includes a live circus calliope, an armadillo, and a Knife Piñata, you’re not just hosting a celebration—you’re making history. The Rock–Villanyi wedding was an unforgettable lakeside adventure that turned every tradition upside down, blending heartfelt moments with playful originality that only true Indiana creatives could dream up.

Thank you for reading this post, I look forward to hearing from you soon!  :-)

From the moment guests arrived to the echo of carnival-style music drifting from the real circus calliope borrowed from the International Circus Museum, it was clear: this was no ordinary wedding. It was equal parts love story and legend.

Pre-Ceremony Whimsy

Guests were greeted with laughter, lakeside views, and a live petting zoo featuring a guinea pig, armadillo, rabbit, and other adorable friends. As if that weren’t enough, the sweet scent of fresh popcorn filled the air while guests typed heartfelt wishes on a vintage manual typewriter.

And as the afternoon breeze danced through the trees, the circus calliope played whimsical tunes that set the tone perfectly—nostalgic, joyful, and just a little bit mischievous. The music echoed over the water, creating a scene straight out of a storybook (or perhaps, the world’s most delightful daydream).

Ceremony by the Lake

The ceremony took place at a private residence down by the water. As the breeze rippled across the lake, the couple exchanged vows—officiated by none other than a friend dressed in a full salamander costume. It was lighthearted, touching, and utterly unforgettable.

Toasts, Piñatas, and Pure Joy

The toasts were warm, witty, and wonderfully personal—proof that everyone in attendance truly knew and loved the couple. Adding to the charm, the family joined in a live performance of “Edelweiss”, playing along on handbells. It was one of those tender, cinematic moments that guests will talk about for years. But the biggest surprise came next: instead of cutting a cake, the newlyweds unveiled a giant wedding-cake-shaped piñata, suspended and ready for action.

Guests grabbed large knives and took playful swings, “cutting” it open in a hilariously unconventional twist. It was chaotic, colorful, and pure joy—exactly the kind of moment that defines a wedding like this.

Dancing & Lantern Parade Finale

Once the piñata settled and the laughter died down, it was time to hit the dance floor. Guests danced late into the night to fun, upbeat tracks mixed by DJ Rock My World, celebrating under twinkle lights reflected in the water.

As a final touch, everyone joined a lantern parade leading from the home down to the lake and bonfire area, lighting the shoreline with a soft golden glow. It was a breathtaking close to a one-of-a-kind wedding—equal parts carnival and fairytale.
